Control Center – Sales Management – Account Type

4 min. readlast update: 07.24.2026

Purpose

The Account Type configuration allows Sales administrators to define the classifications used to identify the business role or nature of an Account.

These values become available in the Account Type field of the operational Account Record, helping the organization distinguish customers, prospects, partners, suppliers, and other relevant types of Accounts.

Consistent Account Types support structured data entry, filtering, reporting, and commercial analysis.

Access Path

Control Center → Sales Management → Account → Account Type

Overview

An Account Type answers the following question:

What business role does this Account have within the organization?

Depending on the organization’s commercial model, Account Types may include:

  • Customer
  • Prospect
  • Partner
  • Supplier
  • Reseller
  • Internal Account

The values should reflect the classifications actually required by the organization. Avoid creating Account Types that duplicate Account lifecycle stages, segmentation levels, or subsidiary relationships.

The landing page displays the Account Types already configured in UNEEVO.

From this page, Sales administrators can create new Account Types, review existing records, and maintain the values available to operational users.

Business Examples

Account Type Possible Use
Customer Organization that currently purchases products or services.
Prospect Organization with which a commercial relationship may be developed.
Partner Organization collaborating with the company in delivering or generating business.
Supplier Organization providing products or services to the company.
Reseller Organization authorized to resell the company’s products or services.

Configuration Recommendations

  • Use short and clear names that operational users can understand immediately.
  • Define Account Types according to the Account’s business role.
  • Avoid creating multiple values with the same or very similar meaning.
  • Do not use Account Type to represent the maturity of the commercial relationship; use Account Stage for that purpose.
  • Do not use Account Type to represent strategic importance; use Account Tier instead.
  • Confirm the correct company scope before saving the configuration.
  • Review the proposed list with Sales stakeholders before operational use.

Important Notes

  • Account Types should be configured before users begin creating Account Records.
  • If no Account Types are configured for the applicable scope, users may have no values available for selection.
  • The same organization may require different Account Type values depending on its commercial model.
  • Changes to existing values may affect Accounts where the type is already assigned.
  • Before deleting a value, verify whether it is currently used by Account Records.
  • Deleting an Account Type may not remove it from historical records.
  • Access to this configuration depends on the user’s Control Center permissions and company scope.
