Purpose

This article explains how to configure the core components of the organization’s career structure before using the Recruitment and People Management modules.
These elements define how job positions are categorized within the company.


Overview

Areas, Functions, and Categories determine:

  • How job offers are classified

  • How employee roles are assigned

  • How data aligns across recruitment, compensation, and reporting

✅ A consistent career structure ensures proper mapping between job roles and HR processes.


Configuration Components

Component Purpose Access Path
Areas Define operational/business domains (e.g., IT, Finance). People Management → Career → Areas
Functions Represent professional roles or specializations (e.g., Software Developer). People Management → Career → Functions
Categories Define seniority or responsibility levels (e.g., Junior, Senior). People Management → Career → Categories
Departments Organizational units responsible for hiring activities. Entities Management → Departments

Setup Steps

Configure Areas

Defines the company's different Operational Areas, used to classify job offers and roles according to business domains.

Access Path:

Go to → People Management → Career → Areas


Configure Functions

Represents a general professional role or specialization (e.g., Marketing, Engineering, HR).

Access Path:

People Management → Career → Functions


Configure Categories

Defines and maintains the different Categories within the company.
Categories are typically used to group positions by level or responsibility (e.g., Senior, Junior, Intern).

People Management → Career → Categories


Configure Departments

Defines and maintains the different Departments within the organization.
Departments represent the structural units responsible for hiring activities and job ownership.
